Senior Software Engineer - Java Full Stack & AI Assisted Engineering

Job Description Purpose of the role To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.  Accountabilities - Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. - Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives. - Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. - Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth. - Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. - Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability. You will harness cutting-edge technology to build and manage robust, scalable and secure infrastructure, ensuring seamless delivery of our digital solutions.   To be successful as a Senior Software Engineer - Java Full Stack & AI Assisted Engineering, you should have experience with: - Design, develop, test and deploy enterprise-grade applications using Java and Spring Boot. - Build scalable, resilient, and secure microservices-based solutions. - Develop responsive and modern user interfaces using ReactJS and TypeScript. - Translate business requirements into technical solutions and high-quality software deliverables. - Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to solution design decisions. - Ensure applications meet performance, security, reliability, and operational standards. - Lead complex technical investigations and production issue resolutions. - Design and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS. - Work with AWS services including ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB/RDS, CloudWatch, IAM and EventBridge. - Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation. - Support CI/CD automation and release processes. - Drive adoption of secure coding practices and engineering standards. - Perform code reviews and promote clean code principles. - Implement automated unit, integration, and regression testing. - Ensure observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks. - Contribute to technical debt reduction and platform modernization initiatives. - Effectively leverage AI engineering tools such as Claude, GitLab Duo, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, and other approved enterprise AI tools. - Utilize AI assistants for code generation, test automation, documentation, code review support, root cause analysis, and solution design acceleration. - Drive responsible and secure adoption of AI-assisted development practices. - Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and recommend productivity improvements within engineering teams. - Mentor team members on AI-enabled software engineering best practices. - Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, Engineering Managers, Designers, and Business Analysts. - Mentor junior and mid-level engineers. - Contribute to sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, and technical leadership activities. - Support a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
