Senior Azure Data Engineer
Job Description – Senior Azure Data Engineer Experience: 6-10 Years Location: Pune Job Summary We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Azure Data Engineer with extensive experience in designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise-scale data platforms on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL, Python, and modern data engineering practices. The candidate should be capable of leading technical discussions, collaborating with business stakeholders, designing scalable data architectures, and mentoring engineering teams while delivering high-quality data solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics. Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and semi-structured data from multiple enterprise data sources. Develop data transformation logic using PySpark, Python, SQL, and T-SQL. Design modern Data Lakehouse and Data Warehouse architectures on Azure. Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports. Create dimensional data models and optimize data structures for analytics and reporting. Develop metadata-driven and reusable data engineering frameworks. Implement incremental data loading, Change Data Capture (CDC), Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), and Delta Lake concepts. Optimize Spark workloads and SQL queries for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency. Work closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable data solutions. Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design documents. Ensure data quality, governance, lineage, and security across enterprise data platforms. Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational support for production data pipelines. Support CI/CD implementation using Azure DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code best practices. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership throughout project delivery. Participate in client meetings, requirement workshops, and solution demonstrations. Required Technical Skills Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Data Engineering technologies including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL Database, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure Service Bus,PowerBI understanding Proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, and T-SQL. Experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and implementing Data Modeling, Delta Lake, CDC, SCD Type 2, metadata-driven frameworks, data quality, and performance optimization. Good understanding of Apache Spark, Hive, and common data formats such as Parquet, JSON, and CSV. Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies. Knowledge of Power BI and data visualization concepts is preferred. Preferred Skills Experience with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse. Experience in migrating legacy ETL platforms (SSIS, Talend, Informatica, Pentaho) to Azure. Knowledge of enterprise data governance and security best practices. Experience with financial, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, or CPG domains. Exposure to MLOps and Data Science integration. Experience in solution architecture and enterprise data modernization initiatives. Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture and distributed data processing. Leadership Expectations Lead end-to-end Azure Data Engineering initiatives. Drive technical solution design and architecture discussions. Collaborate directly with business stakeholders and customer leadership. Review code and establish engineering best practices. Mentor and guide junior engineers. Ensure adherence to enterprise security, governance, and coding standards. Support estimation, planning, and project execution activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-900, DP-203, DP-600, Fabric Analytics Engineer) are preferred.
